Description

This intermediate-level short course, will concentrate on individual and compliance tax issues. The session will be especially helpful if you are a practitioner with as little as two (2) years of experience. You will benefit from an effective combination of lecture, example problems, discussion, and questions.

The two-day format of this course will give you many opportunities to explore topics. The only prerequisite for this course is a familiarity with business and/or individual tax concerns.

Why You Should Attend

NC State University’s Office of Professional Development is registered with the North Carolina State Board of CPA Examiners as a sponsor of continuing professional education. The Intermediate and Advanced Income Tax Schools have been accepted by the CFP Board for continuing education credit. The two hours of ethics offered in the Intermediate and Advanced Income Tax Schools qualify for the annual two-hour CPE ethics requirement of the NC State Board of CPA Examiners. NC State University’s Office of Professional Development is registered as a National CPE Sponsor (Registry ID Number 129372) for the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA).

Accountants, CPAs, bookkeepers, enrolled agents, financial planners and anyone involved in tax preparation

Additional Information

Hours reported to the IRS by PTIN: 2 hours of Ethics, 3 hours of New Tax Law and 10 hours of Tax Law Education, for a total of 15 hours.

CPAs and CFPs can report an additional one hour of tax education for NC tax changes for a total of 16 hours.

Curt Lee, ATA, ATP
Accountant in Raleigh, NC with over 30 years of experience, specializing in small businesses and individuals. He is accredited by the Accreditation Council
for Accountancy and Taxation, and is a member of both the NC Society of Accountants and the National Society of Accountants.

Michelle Sosnowski, CPA
Accountant with over 25 years of experience in both national and local CPA firms located in Michigan, Texas, Ohio, and North Carolina. She specializes in small business accounting and tax as well as individual income tax preparation and planning. Michelle is also a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor. She is certified by the North Carolina State Board of CPA Examiners

James P. Upton, III, EA
James P. Upton, III of Seagrove, NC is president of Upton Accounting Inc., a family firm that has been in operation for over 40 years, serving farmers, small businesses and individuals. James is a  graduate of Gardner Webb University with a B.S. in accounting and a Master of Accountancy with a concentration in taxation. James has been Enrolled to Practice before the Internal Revenue Service since 2006. James has taught tax and accounting classes in various settings for over 10 years. James is an active member of the North Carolina Society of Accountants, serving as president 2017-2018.
