Meet Your Instructors
Mark Lehr entered the environmental industry working as an environmental consultant. He conducted technical and scientifi c work related to Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) permitted facilities and various National Priorities List (NPL) sites which included performing trace level analysis for EPA’s contract laboratory program. Mr. Lehr managed analytical work required forcompliance with RCRA permits. He joined the U.S. EPA to become a Compliance Offi cer and serve as QAU for the National Enforcement Investigation Center’s Pesticide Formulation Laboratory. Mr. Lehr is working in EPA’s GLP program planning and directing inspections to verify industry compliance with GLP testing requirements. In addition, Mr. Lehr is involved in international training of foreign monitoring authorities for the OECD GLP Principles. He earned his degree in chemistry from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Francisca Liem is the Director of the Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Standards Program at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Ms. Liem began her career at EPA as a GLP inspector in 1985. She has been involved with the GLPs since 1977 when she worked at a major contract research organization. As the US and international GLP expert for pesticides and industrial chemicals, Ms. Liem is the US EPA representative to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) GLP Working Group, and has served as a Chairperson. During Ms. Liem’s administration of the EPA GLP program, she was instrumental
in the negotiation and signing of bilateral agreements between EPA and Canada, Israel and most recently, China and Chinese Taipei. Ms. Liem has a graduate degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry and Zoology.
Daniel Myers is a Compliance Officer /Chemist with the Environmental Protection Agency’s Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Program. After obtaining a degree in Chemistry, his laboratory experience includes working with the Colorado State University chemistry department and private industry before starting with the EPA’s Pesticides and Toxic Substances Branch. He spent four years with the EPA’s pesticides laboratory in Denver, CO conducting pesticide formulation and residue analyses. In 1995 Mr. Myers transferred to the EPA’s Office of Compliance as a GLP inspector. Currently he focuses on the inspection of facilities regulated by the Federal Insecticide Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) GLP standards and has conducted over 300 such inspections across the United States. In addition, Dan is involved in domestic and international training of the regulated community and foreign monitoring authorities for the FIFRA GLP regulations as well as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) GLP Principles.
